The foil area of the Leitboy III from horizont is 50% of the foil area of a standard beacon. The pronounced protective edge on the horizontal Leitboy reflectors reduces damage to the reflector to a minimum.
A flat foil surface achieves the best retroreflective values and ensures optimum visibility by day and night.
The Leitboy III has been tested by the BASt with the horizont guide rail.
Two guide grooves and locking lugs in the guide barrier’s insertion mechanism secure the Leitboy firmly in position. It does not come loose if driven over directly by a vehicle (see BASt test report), and rights itself automatically thanks to its flexible rubber base. The full warning effect and traffic guidance are maintained.
The Leitboy III (also known as the Klemmfixe) is now also used in cycle path applications. Separation from the cycle path (on a guide kerb or Leitboy foot L49) to the carriageway – a so-called bike lane (pop-up bike lane) in urban areas. It significantly increases safety on the cycle path. No "parkers" on the cycle path, yet still "passable" by emergency services!
According to RSA21 (General Part 5), the distance between the guide beacons on guide brackets is generally:
5 m in built-up areas and 10 m outside built-up areas
